The security industry is growing fast and they need skilled people to fill its ranks. The New Zealand Defence Force and Police need recruits too and are looking for those with NCEA 3 and a high level of fitness.

 

This physically challenging course offers fitness training to industry requirements, lessons on various aspects of the law, electronic surveillance and terrorism, as well at the opportunity to gain NCEA Levels 1,2 and 3.

East Tamaki - 16 - 19 Years Old

Course Structure
Our Security Level 2 course is 6 months which runs Monday to Friday each week.

It will get you up to the physical fitness levels required for a uniformed role. The course covers aspects of the law, emergency procedures, radio communications, along with personal risk and unarmed restraint strategies. There is an emphasis on the importance of teamwork.

Course Information

Credits

Level: 2 and 3

Credits: Up to 120

 

 

Course Structure

The course is full-time and for those aged 16-19, it is in two parts (Level 2 and then Level 3) and runs for a total of 44 weeks. For those aged 20 or older, it runs for 40 weeks.


The course offers the opportunity to gain NCEA Levels 2 and 3 as well as the fitness levels required for many uniformed roles.


Uniforms will be issued and required to be worn every day in line with the Security Industry standards.


Personal appearance such as hair and general tidiness will be monitored in line with the Security Industry standards

 
 

Course Content

Gain knowledge to operate Electronic Security equipment.


Gain knowledge to manage Violence and Personal Safety.


Incident Report writing.


Gain knowledge of various threats from Terrorism in NZ and other countries.


Gain a basic knowledge of the various aspects of the Security Services Industry such as Retail Security, Cash in Transit, Document Destruction, Mobile Security, Static Guarding, Communication
Centre Operators and liaison with the different Emergency Services.

 

 

Entry Requirements

If students aged 19 and under, then it is recommended that they have NCEA Level 1.


For those age 20 and older, no specific school qualifications are required, however each student will be considered at the time of enrolment.

 

 

Outcomes

Graduates will be equipped with the fitness and skills required to join a range of uniformed roles.

 

 

Graduate Opportunities

  • Other uniformed roles

 

 

 

Study Options

The programme is fulltime and made up of classroom time, fitness training, work experience in security roles and other practical experiences.

 

 

Fees

For students aged 16-19, the courses, both Level 2 and 3, are FREE


For students aged 20 and older, fees are $4,984 for the Level 3 40 week programme.


If you already have a Level two of above qualification, please ask if a fee applies.
